Community engaged research in action: Presentation & panel discussion

CGSHE trainee Samira Karsiem will present findings on community engaged research with im/migrant communities in Canada. This presentation will be followed by a discussion moderated by CGSHE faculty Dr. Travis Salway and featuring panelists Sofia Bartlett, Harlan Pruden, and CGSHE faculty Dr. Mei-ling Wiedmeyer exploring the opportunities, challenges and practicalities associated with community engaged research. Each of the panelists has significant experience doing community engaged research with various communities, including people with incarceration experience, Two-Spirit communities, and im/migrant communities. Specific discussion topics include facilitating community advisory boards in a respectful way, and working towards shared leadership with community members, among others.
