The Trans Health Research Project evaluates health care delivery in primary, gender-affirming, and sexual/reproductive health care. The study investigates the factors that impact the accessibility, acceptability and quality of healthcare for trans, Two-Spirit, nonbinary and gender diverse individuals in British Columbia. Our community-based research team explores what changes are required in care delivery to address health care disparities, such as lack of access to gender-affirming care, geographic distribution of services, and discrimination in healthcare settings among trans people in BC.
Through partnership with local and provincial organizations, we aim to build local knowledge to support movements for systemic change and policy shifts in health care and adjacent sectors to improve the health outcomes and experiences of trans individuals in BC.
